Manuka honey is a unique type of honey that's collected from mono-floral concentrations of manuka bush in New Zealand. This kind of honey is known to possess excellent antibacterial, antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory properties.

In ancient times people relied on the natural properties of honey to cure many ailments. It was even used by the medical profession. However, with the discovery of antibiotics like penicillin the therapeutic usage of honey was eventually phased out in hospitals. The antibacterial and antimicrobial property of the manuka honey was believed to be more than a 100 times more powerful than ordinary honey.
